Brad Southard is an incredibly talented knifemaker who specializes in custom knife designs. Pioneered by Kit Carson, his first collaboration with Spyderco is the "Flipper" feature, a new blade opening system. This feature consists of a small lever extending from the base of the blade. It protrudes behind the handle of the blade when closed. Pulling with your index finger creates a tension against the hook mechanism that keeps the blade closed.
